Guidance and Support

Stevenson has an excellent system of support for its students, and your child will be guided along the way by a team of committed, caring adults whose goal is your student's success and happiness.

Advisory Program

The Advisory Program is an important part of the Stevenson experience as it matches each student with a faculty member who serves as the student's mentor. The Advisor also plays an important role for parents as they become your point person for questions and concerns.

Faculty

What kind of role models will your child have? There are 66 teaching faculty members at Stevenson, half of whom live on campus with their families. Fifty-five percent of our faculty have advanced degrees and we are proud to report that 33% of our teachers have had a tenure of ten years or more.

Student Leadership Program

Student leaders also play an important role in creating the atmosphere of trust and responsibility that is Stevenson. Our comprehensive Student Leadership Program includes the Student Council, Class Officers, Resident Council, Prefect System, Green Key Tour Guide Society, club and athletic captains and more

Safety and Wellness

Campus Security

Stevenson's campus security provides supervision 365 days a year. Dormitories are locked each night. Resident faculty members and campus security officers are available in case of emergencies 24-hours a day.

Pebble Beach

Surrounded by pristine golf courses, a scenic coastline and the Del Monte Forest, Stevenson is located in the heart of Pebble Beach, a gated community accessible by secured gate access only.

Health and Wellness

What happens when my child gets sick or needs medication?

Stevenson has a nurse on duty in the Health Center from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the school week and a nurse on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The nurse's office is set up like a mini-infirmary so the students who feel sick during class time can lie down under the nurse's watchful eye. You will find that the Stevenson staff can do a very effective job of taking excellent care of most illnesses and injuries; however, students will be taken to Monterey Bay Urgent Care, Doctors on Duty, or the emergency room at Community Hospital when necessary.

Tutoring and Counseling

Our Director of Counseling Resources is available to arrange tutoring and counseling for students as needed. The director maintains a list of recommended tutors who come to campus to work with students. She will work with families to develop a tutoring program which meets each student's needs. Students can enroll in Study Skills, offered by the resource center. The director can set up counseling sessions for students. Students are also allowed to speak with our campus Chaplain.

Peer Counseling

Peer counseling is also available for 9th graders through Community Forum. In this required 9th grade course, students learn the routes to wise decision making. Topics of discussion include substance abuse, sexuality, peer relations, and personal and community standards; the class also involves a retreat undertaken at the outset of the year. Senior leaders work with the Dean of Students to lead this class.
