Welcome
Welcome to Stevenson Lower and Middle School – a pleasant, energetic, nonsectarian, independent, co-ed, day school for academically promising children that is consistently focused on each child’s individual learning and growth.
Stevenson School, founded in 1952 and named for the writer Robert Louis Stevenson, is unique in its configuration in that is it the only K-12, nonsectarian, independent, co-ed school on the Monterey Peninsula. The Lower and Middle School, founded in 1988, is accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Set on three acres in a quiet, residential neighborhood of Carmel, the Lower and Middle School (grades K-8) overlooks Carmel Bay and Point Lobos National Park. The Lower and Middle School is a three-tiered campus containing spacious, light-filled classrooms, a gym, a dance studio, offices, and a playground and field areas. The K-8 student body represents a variety of ethnic, racial, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds. Approximately 15 percent of our students receive financial assistance. The Upper School campus is located five miles away in Pebble Beach; it is a boarding and day school for grades 9-12.
