Middle School
The Middle School classrooms consist of five academic classrooms: science, math, language arts, social studies, and Spanish.
The Middle School academic program is departmentalized, and as such, students travel to and from the five classrooms on a daily basis. The classrooms are bright, airy, spacious, and full of color and student work. Each classroom has two entrances, one of which opens to the Middle School lockers and overlooks the Lower School classroom patios; the other is the front entrance, which opens to the Middle School patio. Middle School students use the playground, play structure, outdoor basketball courts and field areas for their lunch recess and after-school activities; students use the Middle School patio area for their morning snack time and lunch. Throughout the day, all students are very well supervised in their daily activities; our students’ safety and security are a top priority.
The Middle School teachers hold teaching credentials, and most have graduate degrees in their teaching field. The teacher to student ratio is 1:13. In grades 6-8, the class is divided into two sections for their academic and specialty classes. Students in the Middle School receive instruction in art, music, dance, physical education, and Spanish.
The academic day, for sixth through eighth grade students, begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. and follows a daily schedule. All Middle School students begin their day in their homeroom, where attendance and announcements are made before they are dismissed to their first period class. Our After-School Program, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., provides a wide choice of educational, creative, and athletic activities. Our flexible day allows parents to bring their children to school as early as 7:30 a.m. and to pick them up as late as 5:30 p.m.
