Sports
After-school sports provide students the opportunity to participate in group sports activities that are structured according to age and ability.
Structured sports activities are incorporated into the physical education curriculum and promote a fun, non-competitive, and educational environment, where students develop sportsmanship, teamwork and social skills, and learn to follow rules. In sports, we emphasize doing your best, improving your skills, supporting your teammates, and – always – having fun.
Middle School Sports
Middle School students, in grades six through eight, are introduced to team and individual sports. The After-School Sports Program fields teams in the following sports: soccer, flag football, basketball, golf, and tennis. The golf and tennis teams are coed, while the soccer and basketball teams are organized by gender into junior varsity and varsity teams. Flag football, which is only offered to eighth grade students, is organized by gender into two teams – one boys’ team and one girls’ team. Students, who sign up for team sports, compete competitively against other local middle school teams on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The emphasis of team sports is teamwork, sportsmanship, and playing to learn and have fun. All players are accepted. Every player receives the same amount of playing time, and no one gets cut from the team. The sports teams are coached by faculty and staff.
