Drivers Education

Many of our students complete their classroom requirement for a drivers education program with a local company, DriveCarmel. The owner and instructor, Mary Gifford, holds classes regularly at Stevenson and other schools in the area.

Students may take the class before they turn 15 1/2. Mary Gifford will take students to the DMV for their permit test.

Additional information and current class schedules are available on the Drive Carmel website at www.DriveCarmelSchool.com.

For more information, contact Mary Gifford directly at DriveCarmel@aol.com or call 831-625-3994.

California Laws Affecting New Drivers

For the first 12 months after earning a driver's license, students may not transport passengers under 20 years old and may not drive between the hours of 11:00 pm and 5:00 am without a parent or another qualified adult driver in the car as specified in Section 12814.6 California Vehicle Code.

Young drivers holding a provisional license (permit) are subject to a number of restrictions. Follow the link below for more information.
