The Counseling Resource Center

The Counseling Resource Center, housed in the same building as the library is a clearing house for all types of student support – emotional, social, academic.  Short term counseling is offered both by Charlene Doran, Director of the Center, and Rev. Bill Rolland, Chaplin of the school.   Both bring unique perspectives to many of the struggles faced by adolescents.  Confidentiality is assured.

Psychotherapy of a more long-term nature, whether for on-going issues, or recent events can be arranged through the Center.  The Director maintains a list of community professionals on the Central Coast.  For these meetings, students are generally transported off-campus through the Health Center to meet in the professional’s office.

Academic support is a major part of our daily activities.  We maintain an on-going list of tutors to help students meet the expectations of their courses.  In addition to content tutoring, we also work on issues of organization and work habits to encourage academic growth.

Another service is the recommendation of psycho-educational testers should parents wish to have a child evaluated for any learning difficulties that may be affecting a child’s performance.

But equally important, the Center offers students an accepting place to visit with caring adults who respect their confidentiality, and who offer support in a non-judgmental framework.
