Technology
Stevenson is committed to graduating students who possess the skills needed to succeed in an increasingly complex information society. Our vision is to graduate students who are comfortable and proficient with educational technology in all its forms, and who possess the skills to interact with individuals or organizations through electronic media.Stevenson has been integrating technology into academics since the late 1990s. We pioneered a 1:1 laptop program in 1997 for grades six through twelve. The Laptop Program is an important aspect of academic life for Stevenson students. Both in and out of class, students use technology for communication, research, collaborative projects, and accessing on-line resources. Our upper and lower school campuses are equipped with full and secure wireless coverage so access to information is just a click away.
Stevenson's approach to technology is purposely integrated throughout the daily curriculum to enhance teaching and learning. Other than our information and technology literacy course, which is viewable below, most computer use is not specialized by subject but rather ubiquitous throughout the curriculum.
All students and teachers have their own state-of-the-art laptop computers for school and home use. Student computers purchased through the school come fully installed with all the programs necessary for the academic curriculum, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe CS3 Design Studio, Inspiration, FirstClass, and several other programs.
